11th Annual SVDP Youth Ministry Golf Outing
The 11th Annual golf outing to benefit the SVDP Youth Ministry was held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Park Hills Country Club in Altoona. We are very grateful to the sponsors, businesses, individuals, and golfers.
2019 Summer Feeding Program
The Society’s Youth Ministry sponsors a summer feeding program at the Evergreen Manors Housing facility. It began when the Altoona School District discontinued its on-site feeding program for school-age children. The program was made possible by contributions from the SVDP Assumption Chapel Food Pantry and the SVDP Altoona Soup Kitchen. Both breakfast and lunch were served to children up to age 18. The program averages 250 meals a week.
This year 20 families were helped to provide Christmas presents for their children. The youth ministry also helps out at at the Evergreen Manors Christmas party in Altoona. Thank you to a group of employees at a local business for helping out with the gifts for the party. The smiles on the kids' faces say it all.
Area students were ready for their first day of school. Thanks to the youth ministry program these kids had a backpack full of school supplies to start the new year.
