George Kuhne, son of George and Julie Kuhne of Everett, recently celebrated his tenth birthday. Usually a birthday is a one day celebration. However George, who just completed the fourth grade at Everett Elementary School, decided to extend his celebration by donating a portion of his monetary gifts to St. Vincent de Paul. George said he was inspired to help the poor after encountering homeless people on the way to a recent Pittsburgh Pirates game.
The Kuhnes are members of St. John the Evangelist parish in Everett where Father Derek Fairman is the pastor.
Congratulations to the SVDP Community Gardens volunteers for receiving a $15,000 grant from the United Way of Blair County which will be used to purchase much needed equipment.
