FEINSTEIN CHALLENGE TO FIGHT HUNGER 2012
Once again the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will take part in the Feinstein Challenge to Fight Hunger during the months of March and April.
The Feinstein Foundation provides $1 million dollars in grant money to be divided among groups across the country who fight hunger by providing food at pantries, kitchens and other facilities assisting those in need.
All is required is to report the amount of the money and food items collected during the upcoming months of March and April and based on our totals we will receive a portion of the grant.
The amount of the grant will help but more importantly will be the food and money collected here in our own area which will help feed our neighbors locally.
All food and money raised through the Challenge will stay right here in our local community.
The Society in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese currently operates two family kitchens/food banks, one in Altoona and one in Johnstown and five food pantries in Altoona, Carrolltown, Ebensburg, Johnstown and Patton.
Any individual, church, school, sports team or organization wishing to help can contact the Society's main office at 814-539-4627.
