On May 22, 2019, 52.14 pounds of buttercrunch lettuce was picked at the St Vincent de Paul/Monastery Community Gardens and delivered early the next morning to the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Altoona.
The lettuce was planted by volunteers in one of 2 tunnels gifted to the Gardens. These high tunnels will help extend the growing season so more fresh healthy vegetables are available for the people in our area who are need.
This project relies solely on donations and volunteers. Please consider being a volunteer at the gardens.
